LeRotary Notes Acting President David Grayson opened today’s meeting in President Jim Ellison’s absence. The Pledge of allegiance was lead by Tammy Arneth and the invocation was delivered by Bob Carlsen. Following the four way test, Martha Bailey announced that the YWCA is holding a pig roast on September 29th. Carol Wolfe is directing a show at the Theater 56 on September 14, 15 and 16. Bob Bennett announced that the Rotary Picnic will be Sunday September 16th. He also reminded us that the Appliance Raffle will be held on October 28th. He encouraged all to get their tickets sold as early as possible. Marcia McKenzie announced Game Night on October 13th at the Greens. Rotarians and guests welcome. Samantha announced that she is trying to get a “Rotary Table” together for GCC’s Encore. It just so happened that the Chair couple of this year’s event was in attendance at the meeting. Kim & Tom Cox thanked the club for any support we could offer and then proceeded to announce a couple of Geneseo Rotary events. A small advertising fee was levied. A Multitude of Rotarians were called upon to account for missed meetings. Many had excuses but some used green cards to absolve themselves of the infraction. In honor of our president’s trip to Italy, Past President David Grayson levied fines on June Dusen, Tammy Arneth, Crystal Ellingham and Randy Vink for incorrect answers to some Italian trivia. Our program today was presented by Andrew Rich about Filmmaking. Andrew did a film project in Buffalo called the 48 hour film project (www.48hourfilm.com ) in which 130 some odd cities around the US participate in a film project. They choose from 2 genres – Pop and Line Character. It included 19 cast and crew members. Filmed right here in LeRoy NY. It was nominated for 3 awards. The goal for Andrew is to be able to lend equipment to kids here at LeRoy High School who are interested in film at no cost. The cost of it is very expensive and this would help enable kids the opportunity to get into this kind of career without the burden of the costs associated with it.
