The goal is the reduce the number of cancer deaths in New York State by 10% over a 5 year period by removing barriers to screening. Barriers could include health insurance, co-pays, difficulty with scheduling screening and problems with transportation. Jill specifically addressed the importance of screening for breast and prostate cancer. Women should be screened for breast cancer beginning at age 50 (sooner if a family history or genetic predisposition) until 74 (perhaps longer if active and healthy). Men age 55 (younger if a family history) through 69 should have a discussion with their physician about screening for prostate cancer. Please support our Appliance Raffle.
