Barb, Jackie, and Grandchildren LeRoy Knights Football Season Kicked Off The LeRoy Knights football season kicked off Saturday against the Bath Rams, the LeRoy flag football teams started the action with the red team looking to start the season off right. They did it with a high powered defense leaving the Rams nowhere to run. Lorilye Beardsley, Ben Biracree and Weston Humphrey all snatched flags and shut the Rams offense down. After 4 plays they got the ball to QB Ryker Vangalio so he could navigate the offense. On the Knights second play of the gameCameronMontesano made a huge block that allowed Gunner Humphrey to find the end zone for the first touchdown of the season. It was business as usual for Knights defense after that. Nathan Macintyre and Andrew Sibley chased the opposition into traps and Eli Fortuna and Weston Humphrey Finished the job grabbing flags and ending the Rams offense in four possessions. On the red teams last drive Maddox Finnin flexed his muscles driving back the Rams defense as Blake Biracree flew down the field for another Knights touchdown! The black team took over in the 2nd half and wanted to start fast on offense. On the 1st play of the second half the offensive lineman Anthony Price Preston Heschke Brody Wilson and Camden Weber pushed the Rams defense back and made a lane for Sammy Bogue all the way to the end zone for a Knights touchdown. The Rams took over and were met by a Stiffer defense when Carter Mcclurg Wyatt Whipple Jaiden Biletskiy Maddox Pursel and Blake Fetzer shut their offense down to get the ball back for the Knights. Carter Mcclurg under center then took the Knights on their 2nd scoring drive. With big runs by Thomas Englerth and Preston Heschke setting up Camden Weber to follow a Preston Heschke block and streak through the Rams defense for another Knights touchdown. Baths 2nd possession was just like the 1st they were met by a relentless defense as Thomas Englerth Blake Fetzer and the Knights defense shut them down again. The Knights then lined up for a 3rd time with Blake Fetzer under center at qb where on the 1st play from scrimmage he hit Sammy Bogue with a touchdown pass down the right side right in front of the home fans. It was an exciting day as most of these players were in the 1st game of their career, both the red and black teams showed what LeRoy football is all about. The Knights next game is September 9th at York where they look to build on Saturdays success
