He welcomed Gary Churchill of the Batavia Club as our Guest. Announcements: Be on the lookout for a strategic planning email. Jake Whiting will be sending out an email about the Habitat day. The LeRoy Rotary picnic will be at the Bennett residence sometime in September. The 7090 District Conference is 10/20/18. Let Mary Murray know if you are biking to Thirsty Thursday at 5 Sons brewery on August 2nd. (You can also drive). The Presbyterian Church is opening a Thrift Shop. See June Dusen for more details. Give David Grayson your name tag updates. Our newest Rotarians will be installed next week. Our LeRoy Community kitchen fed 75 people. There was a total of 18 volunteers, 6 of them from Rotary. This will be our 30th anniversary for the appliance raffle. President Jim handed Betsy Halvorsen a old appliance raffle tee shirt and asked her to come up with a new design for the 30th. We are working diligently on updating the Rotary website. Please let David Grayson know about any updates and send photos to him as well. Missed Meetings: Martha Bailey had two make ups, Bob Boyce – Rule of 85 (excused absence), Jim Frascati was in Italy for two weeks as well as other conflicts….GREEN CARDS! Tom McGinnis had two valid excuses. Fines: Ron Pangrazio paid for celebrating his 19th Rotary Anniversary and it was rumored his wife benefited from the American Legion Golf tournament. McGinnis paid for a FDNY ball cap. Marcia and Carol stood in line for 1 hour and 5 minutes at a barn sale and that cost them. Tim Moag’s paid (again) for his photo in a farm ad for Freed Maxick. Sully was congratulated for one of the largest parades around and a great job. It did not save him from a fine. Tony Gugino’s son in law was the overall winner of Tri The Oatka and his daughter was 3rd in the women’s. Congratulations! Jason Karcher held a 40th birthday party for his wife at the Legion with “The Art of Mandy” and apparently there was dancing involved – it’s all over Facebook! David Frost called on the services of Past President Bob Boyce. The village ordinance says no lawn mowing before 7 am and if you live by Bob he says no Sunday mowing at all and never before 8 am. President Jim, you have disturbed the neighborhood. The fine was hefty. President Jim was also censured for not knowing where the “Birthday” money goes when it’s collected from members. Each Rotarian pays $1 for each 10 years, rounding up above the half way point. The birthday money is sent to the rotary foundation for Polio Plus to help with one of Rotary’s greatest missions… eradicating polio. Program: Today we broke up into committees to discuss what each is doing, new ideas and engaging all Rotarians, seasoned and new into participating in our projects and functions. Our next committee breakout will be at the end of August. Have you ever considered becoming part of an organization which is wiping polio off the face of the earth, funding over $35,00 in scholarships for local graduates, feeding hungry people in the Community Kitchen twice each month and saving the lives of babies in Uganda? Please help make our community a better place to live. Remember us on Facebook at “Rotary Club of LeRoy”! Route 5 Storage in LeRoy will be selling the contents of storage units on Bid13.com on August 13, 2018.
