After the Pledge of Allegiance, Grace and the Four-Way Test, President Jim welcomed Sherye Boylan, Larry’s wife, and Hans Kunze from the Perry club as our guests. A n n o u n c e m e n t s : Assignments for programs and Le Rotary Notes have been sent out by email and can be found on the website calendar at leroyrotary.org. Hard copies are available. The program for July 25th will be Committee Discussions. Scott McCumiskey reported that the Hot Dog/Hamburger Stand was a huge success at the Oatka Fest. Thanks to all Rotarians and spouses who worked hard at the stand. Mary Young is scheduling a bike ride/brewery tour on Aug 2nd as our next Social. Bob Bennett will host our Family Picnic during September. Service Opportunities: There are openings for servers and cleanup at the Le Roy Rotary Community Kitchen meal on July 24th. Jake Whiting is leading a Habitat for Humanity Build Day on Aug 15th. Our Strategic Planning session will be held in August. These folks were fined for missed meetings: Jerry McCullough and Tim Moag. Additionally, Jerry was fined for using “Stealth Technology” at the Oatka Fest. Bob Carlsen paid up for the Yanks losing Torres before the All-Star Break. Eric Fix paid for another summary of the Little League season. Christine Gephart “missed the fun” at the Hot Dog/Hamburger Stand and contributed her share. Merritt Holly was fined for dangerous movements with hot dogs at the Stand. Larry Boylan led an historical question and answer program on American History decade by decade. Rotarians scored well on questions about the significance of the battle of Saratoga during the Revolutionary War, famous Americans who fought at the Alamo, who led the Indians at Custer’s Last Stand, what was the Bull Moose Party and who was President when the Berlin Wall came down. Le Roy Rotary asks you to consider becoming part of an organization that is about to eradicate polio from the earth, saves the lives of babies in Uganda, contributes to numerous assistance projects in over 100 foreign countries, and offers a chance for everyone to give back to their community. Locally, we provide over $35,000 in scholarships to LHS students annually, feed hungry people twice every month at the Le Roy Rotary Community Kitchen, provide engaging Appliance Raffle and Graze to Raise events as well as many other fun events.
