LeRoy Pennysaver & News

LE ROY PENNYSAVER & NEWS - MARCH 18, 2018 Mayor's Corner by Greg “Porp” Rogers In my haste to get my last arti- cle done I made some mistakes about the opening of the Hope Center. Please accept my apolo- gy for these errors. It was meant with no disrespect. Here is what I got wrong: Henry Moore is the Director of the Hope Cen- ter, and his volunteer staff of assistants are Amy Bolton, Donna Friedman, and Pat Bed- ford. They have been working their tails off to make all kinds of programs and special events available. Some of which are the events for support groups for single moms, families with special needs children, the liter- acy program, and special events (like the one Lori Steinbrenner and Nancy Wright organized re- cently). Because the Hope Center is NOT under the umbrella of Liv- ing Waters or any church, but a separate 501c3 nonprofit charity they are trying to connect with all of the churches to serve all in town. Anybody wishing to help or in need, please contact the above-mentioned people. We are lucky to have such a group of dedicated volunteers to help make our community a better place to live. Thank you and please accept my apology for getting the information wrong. Last week the village accepted the letter of resignation from Police Sergeant Mike Hare. Mike has served our community for 19 years. We are sad to see such a dedicated officer leave, but happy for Mike and his fam- ily to enter into the next phase of their life. Thanks, Mike. Save the date: On April 2nd the LeRoy Historical Society will host an event honoring the 100th Anniversary of the first women to vote in LeRoy at the Village Hall at 2:00 pm. We urge you to attend. Speaking of elections, Village elections will be held from noon until 9:00 pm on March 20th at the Village Hall, please come out and vote, we have 3 great candidates. March 21st will be Bob Taylor’s last official board meeting. Bob will still help with this years’ budget and has offered to do some code work as well. Bob has been a great board member over the years who everyone enjoyed working with, especially me, he has been a trusted friend, I will miss as my righthand man and Deputy Mayor. “I am a slow walker, but I never walk back” Abraham Lincoln 7 Clay Street | LeRoy | New York 585-768-8700 | www.presbyleroy.org Palm Sunday Roast Turkey Lunch at 11:30 am-2:00 pm.
