Mike Darby's Patch & Paint Around Town by Stephen R. Barbeau Supervisor, Town of LeRoy (585) 768-6190 x 231 At its regular meeting on December 14, the Town Board adopted a plan that reorganizes and enhances our Code Enforce- ment Office starting next year. This plan, developed in con- junction with the Village Board and our code enforcement of- ficials, is designed to improve both accessibility and efficien- cy in enforcing our respective codes. This should be a nice lit- tle service enhancement to our community. Beginning January 1, Jeff Steinbrenner will be our Fire Marshall/Property Maintenance Official. For both town and village, Jeff will be the code enforcement official whom the Fire Chief calls first for a need- ed re-entry inspection after a fire, and the official the commu- nity will deal with for property maintenance issues (e.g., dogs, dumping, junkyards, grass/ weeds, noise, tires, vehicles, etc.). Should either or both mu- nicipalities enact the “Vacant Building Registry” currently under review, Jeff will oversee that new code as well. Also beginning on January 1, Bob Dawley will become Sr. Code Enforcement Officer. Bob come to us after serving 30+ years on the Planning Board (much of that time as Chair- man) and a successful career in industry as well as a teach- er at BOCES in the building trades/electrical area. Bob will deal with building permits and contractors, and in the areas of zoning, annual inspections, site plans, subdivisions, SEQR, land separation, etc., again for both town and village. Both Jeff and Bob will still be part-time employees but their combined service time will be a significant increase over the present organization. They will also back each other up when one is absent, as they have worked well together over the past 4 years. As we get set up, I will publish their respec- tive contact information (until then, please continue to use the 768-6910 ext. 223 and code@ leroyny.org info) and it will be posted on our web site. As with any change, we anticipate some level of confusion on who to contact for what code/issue. We hope to make that as smooth as possible (asking for your pa- tience) and, along with the Vil- lage Board, are confident that the additional service staff and delineation of duties will im- prove contractor assistance and code enforcement throughout the town and village. Thank you very much, have a very Merry Christmas, and see you Around Town at First Night! We Want To Wish All Of Our Customers and Community TSP CORP.
