The Genesee County Emergency Dispatch Center re- ceived the 911 call reporting the accident at 6:50 PM. It was re- ported as a train vs. truck motor vehicle accident with the occu- pants of the truck out of the ve- hicle at the time of the collision. The vehicle involved is a 2000 Ford F250, operated by Donald R. Read (07/26/1971) from Bergen NY. The passen- ger was Frank L. Morrison (08/04/1981). The vehicle was traveling westbound on Buffalo Street Road when Read stated he fell asleep causing his vehi- cle to travel off the north shoul- der of the road down an earth embankment. The vehicle then traveled across the southbound and northbound tracks. The ve- hicle came to final rest facing north near the northbound set of railroad tracks. A CSX train was eastbound on the north set of tracks and struck the vehicle causing damage to the rear of the truck. Morrison was trans- ported by Bergen Volunteer Ambulance to Unity Hospital in Rochester for minor injuries. Read was arrested by Deputy Stack and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs. Read was also charged with Moved from lane unsafely, Un- lawful possession of marihuana, and trespassing. Other charges are pending at this time. The accident was in- vestigated by Sergeant Jason Saile, Deputy Rachel Diehl, Deputy James Stack and Dep- uty Eric Meyer. Assisting at the scene were members of the Town of Bergen Fire Depart- ment. CSX Railroad also assist- ed with Train operations. ATTENTION FLY FISHERS Again this year, the Oatka Fish and Game Club is offering an eight week program in fly tying and fly fishing with emphasis on fly tying. One does not have to be a member of The Game Club to participate. The club supplies all equipment, tools and materials needed. There is no cost to the individual. Eight Saturdays are involved from 9:00 am to 11:00 am (approx.) on the following dates: January 6, 13, 20 and 27 February 3, 17, and 24 March 3 The last event of the program involves a day of fish stocking on the Oatka Creek.
