While this crazy and unpredictable past year and a half has resulted in all of us learning and engaging in new theatre formats and platforms, it sure is wonderful to look forward to a return to live performances on stages of all types, sizes, and shapes! We at TANYS want to praise the resiliency of our member companies (and all theatre organizations) for having "weathered the storm" throughout these hard times. I know we are all ready and excited to get back "on the boards" in front of a live audience! Congratulations to those who have already done so.... I bet the feeling of deep accomplishment and satisfaction was overwhelming when you first stepped out in front of that live audience again. We are pleased to announce that the 2021 New York State Theatre Festival will return this year to a live format at the Rome Community Theater on Saturday, November 20th! While the festival will be shortened due to the sparsity of live productions that took place throughout the state during the overlong pandemic shutdown, it will not lack in energy and excitement! At Festival we will also be honoring virtual productions that took place over the last year and a half. I know that all the TANYS family is looking forward to reuniting, interacting, and celebrating together again after our long separation. Be assured that all NYS mandated safety measures will be in place at the Festival to ensure the health and well-being of everyone attending. Please note that this will be our second (although not sequential) year at Rome, so it is now time for any organization that has ever contemplated hosting a Festival to submit a proposal to the TANYS Board expressing that interest for years 2022, 2023, 2024 and beyond. Also, if you are interested in becoming a member of the TANYS Board, please reach out to either Colleen Law-Tefft or myself. We would love to discuss the possibilities with you. I look forward to meeting and greeting everyone (and raising a Toast) at this year's Festival in Rome, New York. Stay safe and healthy, Michael C. Krickmire TANYS President A Note From Our TANYS President Upon entrance to RCT everyone MUST wear a mask unless eating or drinking. The mask must cover their nose and mouth and be worn throughout the entire Festival. No mask, no entry. For Festival 2021, all participants whether they are the RCT workers, the performance companies or the Festival audience members must be vaccinated. They must provide the Festival registrar with that proof in order to be admitted. If you register as an individual or a part of a company via postal mail, please make a copy of your vaccination card and mail it in with your registration form and payment. If you register via Eventbrite, please email a PDF of your vaccination form to the registrar at registertanys@gmail.com. Lastly, walk-in registrants must show either their card or their Excelsior pass at the door. The last important piece of Festival participation is to show your photo ID to the registrar upon picking up your Festival registration materials in the RCT lobby. Once you show your ID and have proof of vaccination you will be given a Festival goody bag, lanyard, and badge to be allowed into the Festival. Everyone must pick up their own registration materials this year. Be sure you arrive early to accomplish this task. Should these protocols change before Nov. 20, RCT and TANYS will publish an update at www.tanys.org. IMPORTANT PANDEMIC RULES FOR FESTIVAL
