Parker Happy 60th anniversary, TANYS! Rome is thrilled to welcome you to an exciting 2019 Festival with the very appropriate theme “TANYS is Forever.” This year we plan to bring you three days of the finest theatre New York State has to offer, at the home of Rome Community Theater (RCT). Since being selected by the TANYS Board of Trustees to host the Festival, my committee has been working hard to keep up the tradition of past TANYS excellence. Have you ever come to Festival and tried to buy a t-shirt, only to find they did not have your size? New this year, we are trying something different. On page 13 of this Callboard, you’ll see this year’s Festival t-shirt and a form to pre-order your shirt by November 8, to pick up at Festival. We encourage all of you to take advantage of this opportunity. For shirts sold at Festival, the price will go up by $2 (and supplies will be limited), so we highly recom- mend you place your shirt order with payment by November 8. We have selected the Hampton Inn on Floyd Ave. in Rome as our host hotel, and negoti- ated a special rate for those who make reservations with the TANYS code in this Callboard. Since Rome hotels do not have banquet facilities, we are planning a buffet awards banquet at the historic Delta Lake Inn, just five miles from the Hampton Inn. We know TANYS at- tendees sometimes like to party a little at the banquet, so an added benefit of staying at the host hotel is that TANYS is providing a free round-trip shuttle between the Hampton Inn and the banquet facility. We hope ALL of you consider staying there. Make your reserva- tions today! Since it’s our diamond anniversary, the TANYS Festival committee is planning “Plenty” of ways to capitalize on our “TANYS is Forever” theme, based on the James Bond movie “Diamonds Are Forever.” Help us carry out the theme by participating in the annual ban- quet costume contest! We’re also bringing back the banquet centerpiece contest, so start planning your finest 007 knockout. In addition, you might just see the RCT “Bond Girl” make an appearance with James and one of his famous villains. Of course, the highlight of Festival will be the productions, selected by TANYS adjudica- tors, performed by theatre companies from across the state. Each production at Festival will receive feedback from nationally known adjudicators Annette Procunier, Jumbo Schimpf, and Rose Bonczek. After the close of Festival, the top two short productions will go on to participate in the Eastern States Theatre Association (ESTA) Festival in spring 2020. Please remember to bring something to Festival to donate to our silent auction, and bid on the variety of items that will be available – and make sure you take a chance at the 50- 50 raffles we’ll have during the weekend. Funds raised from these activities go to the two companies that continue on to ESTA to offset some of their travel and registration costs. Register today for this outstanding 3 days of Festival, November 22-24, 2019. We in Rome promise to provide you a Festival worth the investment of a Superpass! Details of food, and what’s included in a Superpass, are in this newsletter. If you have any special dietary needs for the meals provided, please contact Ella Alsheimer at ellaalsheimer@gmail. com. Lastly, if you came to RCT’s ESTA Festival five years ago, dust off that RCT coffee mug (or purchase one at Festival) for free hot beverages throughout the weekend. Yes, “Coffee is Forever” with your RCT mug! And because of you, our loyal Festival attendees, “TANYS is Forever” too… 60 years strong and counting! John G. Parker TANYS Administrative Secretary 2019-2020 Festival Chair
