It is with great pleasure that we an- nounce that Kristin Greve is the 2019 win- ner of the Ruth R. Legg Scholarship. Kris- tin is a recent graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in West Hempstead, NY and will be attending Boston Conservatory at Berklee in Boston, MA this fall. She will enter as a Musical Theater student and a candidate for the BFA in Musical Theater. She hopes to one day share her passion for theatre through performing and teach- ing children. Kristin was introduced to a full-scale musical when she was nine and was of- fered the opportunity to dance and sing in a stage version of "Camp Rock, the Musi- cal". She then spent the next eight years performing in over 25 community theater productions. She also had the opportu- nity to intern at a local community theater where she had her first experience teach- ing dance to young children. This was where she discovered her love for teaching and working with kids. While choreogra- phy is one of Kristin's strengths, she also excels in vocals, acting and piano. She has interned as a light operator, front of house, choreographer, dance instructor and per- former with three theater and/or dance companies. She received perfect scores Ruth Legg Scholarship Winner in her NYSSMA Piano solos levels 1 – 4, her NYSSMA Vocal solo level 3, and is a member of the National Music Honor Soci- ety. Kristin also maintained a GPA greater than 90 through her four years of high school. Her music teacher, Mary Elizabeth White said this about Kristin: "One of her greatest strengths is her ability to work in a cooperative learning environment. She has a flair for organizing a group by as- suming the leadership role, is sensitive to another's ideas and is personable and easy to work with...(Kristin) was always gracious in accepting any role that was offered even if it wasn't the role she wanted." Congratulations Kristin – we wish you all the best and look forward to you making your mark in the theatrical world!
