Shirley Cockrell Community The- ater Excellence Award - You may nomi- nate a member company for the Shirley Cockrell Community Theatre Excellence Award that you feel provides exemplary service to its community. Fredric Blumberg Distinguished Volunteer Award - The Fredric Blum- berg Distinguished Volunteer Award is given to an individual under 65 who has provided significant service to community theatre for 15 years or more. Sherman C. Ward Jr. Distinguished Volunteer Award - The Sherman C. Ward, Jr. Distinguished Volunteer Award is given to an individual above the age of 65 who has provided significant service to community theatre for over 25 years. New York State was represented by “Frankie’s Hanky” per- formed by Hand to Mouth Players and “Uh-Oh” performed by Little Theatre of Watertown. Janice Fay Hangees from “Frankie’s Hanky” was selected as an out- standing actor at the Festival. ESTAFest 2020 will include the Sher- man C. Ward Jr. Original Works Festival. Traditionally this festival includes between 7 to 10 non-published plays performed 80 minutes bare stage to bare stage. The festival has become very popular in recent years. The festival allows playwrights to receive feedback from adjudicators and al- lows networking among their peers. The Eastern States Theater Associa- tion (ESTA) will hold elections at its An- nual Meeting in November. According to Ruth Brown, President the 2-year terms of Vice President of Festivals and Vice Presi- dent will be elected. If you are interested in serving on the ESTA Board, information is available on the website. ESTA welcomes New Jersey into the organization. After several dormant years, New Jersey reorganized and became ac- tive in November 2018. ESTAFest 2019 concluded its Fes- tival at the Kiss Theater in Wilkes-Barre, PA in May. The top production selected by the adjudicators was “The Dixie Swim Club” performed by the Forge Theatre
